Hey peeps! So you might have noticed (if you've been reading my blog that is) that I tend to ramble about actors or about my favourite movies. Because of this I have decided to create a post for you in which I share with you my top favourite movies and why I love them so much. Don't be surprised if in the future I do one on my favourite stars aswell! So just remember this is completely based on my opinion and you can agree or disagree or whatever you like! If you have something to say feel free to comment :)
Ok, here it goes!
1. Rebel Without a Cause: So the first thing I love about this movie is that it stars two of my all time favourites- Sal Mineo and James Dean. These two work so well together, the chemistry really jumps off the screen. It was the first movie to ever really have an openly gay character (this point is never mentioned in the movie but I read it in Sal: A biography); played by Sal Mineo. All three leads Sal, James, and Natalie Wood work so well together that it is quite easy to tell they got along in real life which is probably a factor that helped their performance. I wish it would have been possible for them to do more work together. I also love the fact that this movie talked about the issue of teenagers expressing themselves and the trials they go through in life because at the time it was made that was not the type of thing that got put into a movie. It was a risky project but it turned out so well. This movie makes me laugh, cry, and it makes me angry. In my opinion it is perfect.
2. Breakfast at Tiffany's: Just like the character played by the fabulous Audrey Hepburn, I am crazy about Tiffany's! This movie is magic. True magic. I love nothing more than curling up in a blanket with my tea on a cold sunday afternoon and watching this movie from start to finish. The story is a very entertaining one and the characters all work so well together. I love Mickey Rooney in the part of Holly's landlord. Such an amazing performance! This movie is made in my favourite era in my favourite city! How could I not love it? I've seen this movie probably a hundred times and there is no doubt I will watch it a hundred more!
3. Harry Potter: I'm including the entire series in this but the 5th one is probably my favourite. So far anyway! Still got to wait for The Deathly Hallows part 2!! I have been a devoted Harry Potter fan since my Dad read me the first book when I was a child. The movies are amazing and I'm not gonna lie, I was crying within five minutes when I went to see the last one in theatres. When I was a child I dreamed that there were such things as magic and wizards and so for me, Harry Potter is like still being able to continue that aspect of my childhood dreaming. (Even though yes, I know it's not actually real! LOL.) I will never grow tired of these movies. I love the three title characters, and Malfoy is also a favourite of mine. Tom Felton is a total hottie! Daniel Radcliffe actually looks quite a bit similar to my oldest brother, so that's something else I love!
4. Newsies: It's a musical, it's Disney, it takes place in New York City, and it stars a very hot eighteen year old Christian Bale. When it first opened Newsies was a flop, and it was only about six months ago that I first saw it when I watched it on Youtube. I instantly fell in love with the characters and the story line. I called my Dad and got him to order it for me online and when it firt came in I must have watched it 5 times in about 2 days. It's such a fun movie.
5. Anne of Green Gables: I love the whole series. I love that it's Canadian (because I am too!) and I just think it's so sweet and so fun. Megan Follows does such an incredible job playing the part of Anne. I couldn't imagine it being played any other way! I fell in love with all the characters, I just think they worked so well together and they really made the timeless classic novel come alive.
6. East of Eden: Another amazing James Dean movie. This was his first starring role and when I watch this movie, I can't tear my eyes away from him. It is actually nearly impossible for me. His performance is magic and alongside Julie Harris they really made this a movie to never forget.
7. James Dean: A movie about the short but amazing life of James Dean, starring another favourite of mine, James Franco. Franco plays the part of Dean amazingly well and he really opened me eyes to some aspects of Dean that I never realised or never really noticed. The movie makes me bawl me eyes out everytime I watch it. It's not very easy to find but if you are a fan of either James Dean or James Franco then I suggest you look this movie up and give it a watch.
8. 127 Hours: Starring James Franco. I won't lie to you, I haven't seen this movie yet, but, just by watching previews I can tell it will be amazing. It's based on a true story and this is just the kind of thing I had been hoping James Franco would attempt. The people who I know who have seen it rave about it and so I can't wait to see it myself.
9. Little Women: There are many versions of this movie and I like most of them to be honest. What makes me love this one more is the fact that it stars Christian Bale. I think he plays the part of Teddy Lawrence, a bit arrogant, but brilliantly. I love Susan Sarandon as Marmee and Claire Danes does wonderfully in the role of Beth.
10. Chocolat: Johnny Depp is a god. I love the role of the gypsy that he plays in this movie. I love the whole story of the woman who is not afraid to go against the rules of her community to do what she loves and believes in. I think it is very well done. Plus, I love chocolate so that a bonus!
Well there you are. Some of my favourite movies! I hope you guys agree with some of my choices, but if you don't we all have different opinions anyway!
What are your favourite movies?
Have a great day everyone!
